Leak Detection Device Installation

State Farm and other insurers now require leak detection devices to maintain coverage. We install whole-house systems that automatically shut off your water when they detect a leak - protecting you from thousands in water damage.

Cost: $1,500-2,000 installed • Same-day installation available

What Is a Leak Detection Device?

It's automatic protection for your whole house. The device installs on your main water line - right where water comes into your house from the street. It monitors your water flow patterns constantly. If it detects something abnormal - like a leak anywhere in your house - it automatically shuts off your water.

You come home to no water instead of a flood. Way better option.

How It Works

  • Installs on your main line before it branches off
  • Requires 110v power
  • Connects to your Wi-Fi
  • Monitors flow patterns using an algorithm
  • Automatically shuts off water if it detects a problem
  • Easy to reset if it's a false alarm

Where We Install It

Your water comes from the city into a meter box on the street. Then there's a line that goes into your house - probably in your garage on the left or right-hand side.

We install it right there, before it branches off to feed anything in your house.

If there's a problem with any fixture, any appliance, anything - it detects it and shuts everything down at that point.

Why You Need a Leak Detection Device

Insurance Requirement

State Farm has introduced a policy requirement: customers must have a leak detection device on their plumbing line. Without it, you're no longer eligible for coverage.

It's hard enough to get insurance as it is. Other insurers are starting to follow suit - this is becoming standard.

Prevent Catastrophic Damage

If you don't have one and your house floods, it could be a couple hundred dollars if you're lucky. But it could be tens of thousands in damage.

  • • Mold remediation
  • • Drywall replacement
  • • Flooring damage
  • • An unwanted remodel

Protection When You're Away

If you're not in the house and there's a leak - at work, away for the weekend - you might not see it for hours or days.

With a leak detection device, it shuts down automatically. The worst thing you come home to is no water.

Leaks happen to everyone. It's a natural part of owning a home. The key is detecting them as early as possible - before they cause expensive damage.

Common Questions About Leak Detection

Why does my insurance require this?

Water damage is one of the most expensive claims insurers deal with. Leak detection devices prevent catastrophic damage by shutting off water automatically when they detect a leak. State Farm requires them, and other insurers are following suit to reduce claims.

What happens if I don't install one?

If you're with State Farm, you'll lose coverage without one. Other insurers are moving the same direction. Check with your specific insurance company about their requirements.

Will I lose water during installation?

Yes, temporarily while we're installing. We work as quickly as possible to minimize downtime - typically just a few hours.

What if it shuts off by mistake?

Easy to reset. We install bypass valves so you can turn your water back on and troubleshoot. False alarms are rare, but if they happen, it's simple to deal with. Better a false alarm than water damage.

Does it require Wi-Fi?

Yes, it's a requirement. The device needs to connect to your Wi-Fi to function properly and send alerts to your phone.

What brands do you install?

We work with all major leak detection device manufacturers and install what works best for your situation and meets insurance requirements.

Can I install it myself?

While technically possible, professional installation ensures proper placement, correct pressure settings, and that your insurance requirements are met. We also check your whole system for other issues while we're there.

How long do these devices last?

Most leak detection devices last 10-15 years with minimal maintenance. They're designed to be reliable, long-term protection for your home.
